Who we are

Catalyse Community is a social enterprise made up of volunteer mentors, trainers and leadership coaches who are experts in helping individuals and organisations strengthen their communities using asset-based models of community empowerment. We are passionate about catalysing community transformation because love is a verb!

Toby Baxter (Founder)

Toby has 35 years of experience in community work with people who are facing tough times and has helped mobilise over 3,000 community mentors to work with vulnerable people. He is the co-founder of COACH Community Mentoring and Empowered Faith Communities ministries, which, when combined, have multiplied in 300+ communities across Australia, NZ, Hong Kong and the UK.

Toby is an ordained pastor with the Churches of Christ and a registered Australian Social Worker. He holds a Master's in Ministry, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Divinity, and honours degrees in Social Work and Urban Economics.

Toby has written a book with his friend Mark Matthews called Ordinary Mentoring for Extra-Ordinary Transformation.

In his spare time, Toby likes to hang out with his family and friends, sail, kayak, go circuit training, read military history and historical novels.
